The story starts with Chaudhry Salah-u-Din Wirk. He is a respected village leader near Gujranwala. He is old and has grandchildren. Wajdan, his eldest grandson, will be the next Sarpanch. He has secretly loved his cousin Manat since childhood. But Manat does not know his feelings. Another cousin, Hammad, also loves her. Slowly, Manat starts liking Hammad instead of Wajdan.

Another part of the story is about Balaj and Hooria. Hooria is Wajdan’s sister. Balaj, their cousin, has a troubled nature. He drinks and wants to marry Hooria only to take revenge on Wajdan. The novel keeps readers interested till the end.
